Harsh Sunil Thaker

Who are you and what are you doing?
I am Harsh Sunil Thaker - a twenty years old, young Indian researcher in Robotics and Embedded Systems. I am studying Computer Engineering in Nirma University, Ahmedabad. I am the founder of CoRo Labs. Here, we do the things which seems crazy to the world but results into miracles.

How did your interest in robots/robotics start?
Well, Robotics- a name which a repeat after every tenth heartbeat of mine.
Before few years, I attended an I.T. fair. Here,I saw a guy blinking LEDs embedded with computer software. I just loved it. From this, I got the inspiration and made a car controlled through computer.
In my day to day life, my morning is spent in learning computers in college but at home in midnights I learn electronics. I named that car as Computronics car i.e. Computer + Electronics.

Then after I started an initiative calling it Computronics. Firstly people criticized it a lot. I began with fifteen followers and now it is having the likers from more than fifteen countries.

This was the beginning of my life with robots. Generally, students at my age are used to have fun watching movies and all, but I watch expert lectures in Robotics and technologies on youtube. I started making robots and giving lectures and seminars on Robotics. I began with a new dream of adding robotics in Computronics. So, I made it Computronics Robotics and further CoRo Labs, began searching the people who can work with me and are crazy enough to imagine the next world.

Two months ago, I was making gestures in front of lab computers in college and  moving cursor using mouse simultaneously. I asked my friend that how if we can operate PC just using hand gestures, they laughed out it and few called me a psycho. Just before few days I made that project and my imagination is now a beautiful reality. This can be very useful in Robot vision and other areas.

I always try to do something new and prefer tough projects to accomplish. Yes, it makes life hard, it even has made me an insomniac but I still love it.

People now call me  "Mr. Robotics".

What kind of actions needs to be done in the community to increase the interest and the awareness of robots / robotics?
I think, the community is doing great job.  I hope it will also organize online seminars and meetings so that we researchers can know each other personally and can share the knowledge.

If you have any closing remarks or comments about robots / robotics, then go ahead.
"I aspire to see a day, when robots will bring smile on the face of a crying child, will seat with a broken hearted lover  for giving condolence and will help an old man to cross the road"- Harsh Sunil Thaker.
